AREA HEADS FOR THE WINDY CITY IN 2022

November 24, 2021

Chicago, May 26-28, 2022
Covid 19 Protocols: AREA Conference & Hotel Information

 2022 Conference Topic Name:
“Offsets: Earnings and Mitigation in Post-Covid Litigation”

Greetings of hope and health!
The 2022 Conference brochure and registration forms will soon be available to all.
Meanwhile, the AREA Board is keenly aware of the Covid topic in terms of questions, various legislation actions, and personal preferences. We are equally sensitive to the ongoing transitions as pertains to national and local interpretations around this, along with potential enforcement policies. More on this will follow.
As an update, we would like to inform you that we are staying on task with an onsite and in-person conference at the Millennium Knickerbocker throughout the scheduled dates. As of now, we are aware that the city of Chicago–to include its hotels, etc.–has Covid protocols, all of which are subject to change again before May 2022. This is similar to everywhere else so that is nothing new.
The 2022 annual conference does not plan to have any simultaneously live video (Zoom) options at the time of the pre-con and conference sessions themselves.
Meanwhile, we look forward to our Friends of the Association continuing to sponsor AREA, as well as for others to consider this 1 full year of promotion with us if you are not already accordingly subscribed. Please do reach out to Margy Ashby at area@gasvcs.net for yearly renewals and for further details.
For the moment, we ask that all potential speakers and attendees be patient and keep posted on the AREA website regarding further conference-related announcements. While the live conference will remain planned as “on schedule,” any and all ancillary information, to include Covid updates, etc. will officially be at once posted ON THE AREA WEBSITE, between now and the actual conference dates. No decisions will be made lightly, and they will be made as soon as possible with the intent of not needing to change them at a later time. Stay tuned!
As a recent announcement, the Knickerbocker Hotel has already opened its AREA-rate registration for overnight guests for the dates of and around the conference. Our group rate is $198 plus tax, and available from Wednesday, May 25, 2022, to Sunday, May 29, 2022. Cancellation fees will not be charged for changes up to 2 days prior to booked arrival dates.

As we head into the holidays, we all continue to be presented with the “next normal” for our lives and world. May you seek and find gratitude, peace, and joy within it. While life continues to evolve, AREA is committed to holding a safe and enjoyable in-person Annual Conference in Chicago, IL between May 26 and 28, 2022. We have missed our in-person contact and look forward to being together again then and there!

Update on Conference- May 2022:
“Offsets: Earnings & Mitigation in Post-Covid Litigation”

January 6, 2022

TO:  Our Valued Presenters, Conference Attendees, and All Concerned

In planning to host an in-person conference in Chicago between May 26-28, the AREA Board has kept keenly apprised of the ever-changing environment relating to our conference and those of other organizations.  The bottom line is, AS OF TODAY, our plans remain on course to hold the conference live in Chicago.  Our position remains unchanged and as described in our earlier memo of November 24, 2021.  That memo may be found on the AREA web page under Association News

The AREA conference host city of Chicago has its own mandates and Covid protocols.  AS OF TODAY- not to be confused or projected into 20 weeks from now- Chicago and our hotel, the Millennium Knickerbocker, require proof of vaccination and masks for persons in indoor areas including meeting rooms and restaurants.  AREA must and will abide by the rules set forth by the City of Chicago and the Millennium Knickerbocker, whatever they may be, or change into becoming.  In addition, AREA will not implement its own rules or protocols.

Going forward, noted updates on the noted AREA web page will stand as the official guide on the posture, intent, and direction of the Board.   An update should be available once again by the end of January, or sooner.  As of now, we are headed for the Windy City and links to both the conference and hotel reservations are open.  We look forward to seeing you there!
